Our client, a leading IT and fibre optic network (FNO) provider, is seeking an innovative FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) splicer to join their dynamic team in George, Western Cape.
As an FTTH splicer, you will be responsible for the installation, splicing, and maintenance of fibre optic cables in residential and commercial settings. You will work closely with their field technicians and project managers to ensure high-quality installations and prompt resolution of any technical issues.
Key responsibilities- Perform fibre optic splicing, termination, and testing for FTTH installations.
- Read and interpret fibre optic network schematics and blueprints.
- Utilise fusion splicing and mechanical splicing techniques to join optical fibres.
- Conduct fibre optic testing using OTDR, power meters, and other testing equipment.
- Install and maintain fibre optic cables, enclosures, and related equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues and system malfunctions.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute installation projects.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety standards and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of splicing work, inventory, and project documentation.
Requirements- Proven experience in FTTH splicing and fibre optic installation.
- Proficiency in using fusion splicing machines, OTDR, and other fibre optic testing tools.
- Strong understanding of fibre optic network components and systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation.
Salary: R8,000 – R15,000 depending on experience.
