Professor Francis Petersen appointed new Chairperson of Cape Town Design NPC

Following the sudden death of the late Professor Russel Botman, chairperson of Cape Town Design NPC, the Board has appointed Professor Francis Petersen as its new Chairperson.

Professor Petersen is the Dean of Engineering and Built Environment at the University of Cape Town and is a registered professional engineer who graduated from the University of Stellenbosch, and holds a Ph.D in chemical engineering.

He has served on the Board of Cape Town Design NPC since 2012 and is an internationally-recognised academic and prominent citizen of Cape Town. Among his many roles, he is also the Chairman of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, serving the academic and research community at national level.
