Prof. Gerrit Jordaan with delegates attending the Road Rehabilitation Technology: Design, Material, Investigations and Management in Pretoria.
The course presented by Prof. Gerrit Jordaan, an Extraordinary Professor in the Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology at the University of Pretoria, introduced the delegates to the principles involved in the optimisation of cost-effective provision and preservation of road infrastructure.
The course covered a various topics not limited to pavement condition, initial and detailed assessments, focusing on road pavement rehabilitation investigations and design. The delegates were exposed to various aspects of appropriate standards, material investigations and new developments in terms of cost-effective use of available materials. The group also acquired hands-on experience in the management of project-level road rehabilitation investigations and design.
