Pine Pienaar is the Managing Director of Afiswitch, a role he stepped into in 2008, with the purpose of further entrenching his decades worth of biometric and AFIS experience into Afiswitch's service offering to the market.
Prior to leading the business as the MD, Pine's roles within Afiswitch have been varied. His accomplishments include being a key player in the Afiswitch team that was successful in its bid to become South Africa's provider of a national automated electronic previous conviction enquiry service provider, against the South African Police Service (SAPS) previously convicted and case awaiting trial fingerprint database.
He also fulfilled the role of Programme Manager throughout the project duration for the conversion of the Department of Home Affairs' fingerprint records to an electronic format. Both projects were a massive success for Afiswitch.
Prior to joining Afiswitch, Pine served as a SAPS Project Manager for a number of high priority business projects, including the large-scale conversion of fingerprint and palm print records to electronic formats as well as the implementation of mobile biometric handheld devices for the SAPS.
