We are looking for a remarkable accountant or snr bookkeeper to join our team in Cape Town. Your role will be to manage the day-to-day financial operations within the organisation, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in accounting processing, ledger management and reporting. Together with the assistant trainee bookkeeper, you will be responsible for the full bookkeeping/accounting function for this small business. This is a key role that requires you to work closely with the owner and management team.

Hours: Full time/contract

Location: Cape Town (on-site position)

Salary: R250,000-R300,000/year 

Experience: min of five years

• Financial transactions: Processing of company accounts, bank reconciliation and petty cash recon
  Document management: Maintain accurate and secure financial records in compliance with financial regulations and standards.
• Accounts management: Manage accounts payable and receivable, raise customer invoices, process supplier invoices, process refunds and credit notes, recon against internal system, debtors management.
  Budgeting support: Assist in budget preparation and manage expenses for assigned accounts.
• Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports reflecting the organisation’s financial status.
• Regulatory compliance: Ensure adherence to financial laws and regulations, staying updated on recent changes. Manage VAT, manage provisional tax, income tax, VAT.
• Cash : Oversee the organisation's cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts in accordance with policy.
• Stakeholder communication: Communicate with internal and external clients, vendors, and banks, and handle related correspondence.
• HR/legal: Staff appointment and disengagement, leave management, payroll preparation and journal, statutory, profile management, and insurance. Management, training and growth of those on your team. 

Non-negotiable

• Fully qualified bookkeeper
• SAIPA member (or other IFAC body)
• Five-plus years' experience in bookkeeping

Advantageous

• Studying towards a further Accounting degree
• CIMA, ACCA and BCom Finance/Accounting qualification
• BEE candidates will be an advantage

Skills

• Ability to work on your own
• Meticulous, problem-solving, efficient
• Expertise in Pastel accounting programme or other
• Reporting, analysing and advising of financial information
