Operations Manager

• Monitoring freight collections, departures and arrivals
• Ensuring timeous departures of vehicles
• Monitoring and managing freight handling and the application of collection and dispatch procedures
• Monitoring expenses including fuel consumption, vehicle services, mileage records, traffic violations, freight discrepancies and damaged freight.
• Managing data-capturing processes and procedures
• Monitoring and ensuring: on-time delivery, actioning missed collections, ensuring data capturing errors are fixed, optimising productivity levels per route and effective POD capturing
• Maintaining assets like scanners, and warehouse equipment and ensuring vehicle maintenance is done timeously
• Managing and controlling a staff complement of 100 people and taking corrective action in terms of problems identified

• Preference will be given to candidates with at least five years of operational logistics experience.
• Tertiary qualification in logistics/transport will be advantageous
• Must be fluent in English and Afrikaans
• Knowledge of logistical/courier software – Parcel Perfect
• Strong managerial skills and ability to work in a high-pressure environment
• An in-depth understanding of freight operational processes and knowledge of road freight in South Africa
• Work well under pressure and motivate staff
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Self-motivated, presentable and willing to work flexible hours
