Technical Product Owner

We are looking for a dynamic and resourceful technical product owner to join our team. You will work closely with various teams, including sales, client services, design, development, and quality assurance. A solid technical background and experience delivering technical projects are required. You should have a deep understanding of the internet, knowing what works for users and what does not.

Key performance areas:

• Sales process: Support the sales process by analysing initial client briefs and project requirements to provide accurate cost estimates and detailed proposal documentation.
• Business requirements planning: Ensure that every project is properly planned, scoped, and the right solution is proposed within a statement of work (SOW) document.
• Functional planning: Interpret business rules and requirements, helping the team and client to formulate the right solution.
• UX workshops: Work closely with designers to conduct and run client workshops to uncover project requirements and map these to the solution to be delivered.
• UX/wireframing: Define the information architecture for new projects and assist with the creation of interactive Figma wireframes and prototypes.
• Grooming and user stories: Own the product backlog, helping to groom, prioritise, and estimate. Break down projects into epics and write the associated user stories.
• Product management: Be the go-to person for the project team, driving project scoping, requirements gathering, and documentation into user stories.
• Testing/QA: Oversee QA testers, conduct QA testing when required, and highlight bugs/tasks where the product does not match the solution.
• Risk management: Reevaluate scope changes and provide solutions and cost estimates based on new client requirements.
• Documentation: Produce technical documentation of a consistently high standard.
• Project plans: Assist PMs in reviewing and inputting into project plans to ensure they are realistic and contain relevant details.
• Development: Assist the development team with troubleshooting complex problems and deriving solutions.

DevOps:

• Manage Azure app service subscriptions and monitor application insights and logs.
• Support the development team with project deployments and troubleshoot application issues from a cloud perspective.
• Maintain DevOps pipelines and troubleshoot deployment issues.
• Support mobile application deployments and manage app stores and third-party integrations.

Skills, experience, and competencies required:

• Seven+ years in a software development or technical environment.
• Experience delivering software development projects, including custom website builds and mobile applications (iOS, Android).
• Strong hands-on CMS experience (Optimizely and Umbraco experience advantageous).
• Experience interfacing with clients and managing client expectations.
• Experience working with Agile/SCRUM methodologies.
• Familiarity with project management tools like Atlassian JIRA.
• Excellent project administration skills, especially using tools like Microsoft Excel and MS Project.
• End-to-end project testing and ability to implement testing & QA processes.
• Good understanding of website analytics, SEO, and technical onsite SEO best practices.
• Experience with cloud environments (Microsoft Azure preferred).
• Familiarity with DevOps tools like Docker, Kubernetes, GIT, and New Relic.
• Scripting experience (BASH, Python, or PowerShell).
• Excellent troubleshooting skills, especially related to website performance and infrastructure.
• High-quality documentation creation.
• Military-like organisational and time management skills.
• A team player with strong interpersonal skills and excellent command of the English language.
