IT Systems and Network Administrator

We are seeking a skilled IT systems and network administrator to manage and maintain our organisation's Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 infrastructures. The ideal candidate will ensure the optimal performance, security, and reliability of our IT systems while providing technical leadership and support to our team. The successful candidate should enjoy working independently but also proactively seek to improve business efficiency by researching and integrating more efficient tools with our tech stack.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain Windows Server infrastructure, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and network services (DNS, DHCP).
• Manage and optimise the Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and Azure Active Directory (AD).
• Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances, including backup and recovery processes.
• Configure and manage SAN storage infrastructure, including capacity planning, performance optimisation, and data replication.
• Manage Windows File Servers, including permissions, quotas, data governance, and access policies.
• Oversee enterprise data storage solutions, ensuring effective data lifecycle management and storage tiering.
• Monitor system performance, security, and availability while identifying and implementing improvements.
• Plan and execute system upgrades, patches, and maintenance activities with minimal disruption to business operations.
• Configure and maintain network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, and VPNs.
• Ensure compliance with security policies and industry best practices.
• Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions to safeguard critical data.
• Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and system inventory.
• Evaluate, recommend, and assist in procuring IT assets and services.
• Provide technical support and collaborate with users to resolve issues across Windows and Mac environments 

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• Five+ years of experience administering Windows Server environments.
• Expertise in Microsoft 365 administration and Azure AD.
• Knowledge of endpoint management solutions (e.g., Intune, ESET).
• Current certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, MCSA, MCSE, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator).
• Proven experience with network infrastructure and security.
• Strong knowledge of backup, recovery, and business continuity practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and documentation abilities.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience managing hybrid cloud environments.
• Advanced Microsoft certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert).
• Familiarity with monitoring tools and ITSM platforms.
• Additional certifications in networking or security (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Network+).
• Proficiency in PowerShell scripting and automation.
