Head of Investments

Job overview:
As head of investments, you will lead the investment strategy for media buying, ensuring the optimal allocation of client budgets across various media channels. You will be responsible for managing relationships with media vendors, negotiating rates, and overseeing the delivery of campaigns with a focus on maximizing return on investment (ROI). The role working closely with internal stakeholders to deliver seamless integrated solutions that meet client objectives and KPIs. The supervision of cost guarantees, performance audits and annual rates liaison with global stakeholders, and reporting on a monthly basis for the same are covered in this role.

Key responsibilities:

•  Media Investment Strategy: Develop and implement effective media investment strategies that align with clients' business objectives, maximising ROI.
• Vendor Negotiations: Lead negotiations with media owners, securing the best rates, placements, and added value to maximize client investments.
• Budget Management: Oversee media budgets for key clients, ensuring efficient allocation across channels, delivering optimal results within agreed financial parameters.
• Client Relationship Management: Act as a senior point of contact for clients, providing strategic guidance and ensuring the successful execution of media campaigns as is related to investments and rates.
• Team Leadership and Development: Manage and mentor a team of media buyers, planners and ensuring ongoing development, performance, and knowledge sharing within the team.
• Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments, including planning, buying and account management.
• Market Analysis: Continuously analyze market trends, inflation, media performance, and competitor activities to identify new opportunities for clients and inform investment decisions.
• Reporting and Insights: Provide regular reporting on media campaign performance, delivering actionable insights to clients to improve future media strategies.

Skills and qualifications:

• Proven experience in media planning and buying, with a strong focus on investment management within a media agency environment.
• In-depth knowledge of the media landscape and channels, including traditional media (TV, radio, print) and digital media (social, programmatic, search, etc.).
• Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing favourable rates and added value from media vendors.
• Excellent client management and relationship-building skills.
• Strong leadership abilities, with experience managing and developing teams.
• Ability to analyse data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
• Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Familiarity with media planning and buying tools, as well as analytics platforms.
• A strategic mindset with the ability to think creatively and push boundaries in media investment.

Education and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• 8+ years of experience in media buying, planning, or investment roles, with a proven track record of managing large-scale media campaigns and teams.
• Experience in working across multiple client sectors with a variety of media budgets.
