About the role

The goal of the senior project manager is to deliver complex marketing projects across the GVI and Bushwise brands by managing a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment, prioritising tasks and trafficking resources. The senior project manager will lead cross-functional project teams, optimise processes, and solve challenges to drive projects forward, enhancing the team’s efficiency.

Specific responsibilities
  • Project leadership:
    • Lead the end-to-end project management of marketing campaigns and initiatives, from concept to execution, ensuring alignment with business goals and brand strategy.
    • Manage and develop briefs for new tasks and projects ensuring they are accurate, and contain all necessary details for the designers/editors/writers/creatives/developers to hit the ground running.
    • Maintain project timelines, Gannt charts, Trello boards, reports and trackers
    • Collaborate closely with the development team on technical and web-based projects, ensuring that requirements are clearly communicated, timelines are maintained, and deliverables meet both marketing and technical specifications. This includes overseeing website updates, platform improvements, and the delivery of new development initiatives.
    • Proactively run retrospectives on various projects with the goal of continuous improvement
  • Workload management:
    • Oversee a large volume of projects simultaneously, managing timelines and resources effectively to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Own prioritisation and reprioritisation of all projects and requests for the marketing team to best meet commercial goals
    • Assist with sourcing freelance or external support from our existing network, and develop a scalable solution for outsourcing.
  • Team management:
    • Manage direct reports on a day-to-day basis, providing support, guidance, and coaching as required
    • Support direct reports in their career development to ensure employee retention and job satisfaction
    • Foster and encourage a positive and collaborative working environment across the marketing department
  • Stakeholder coordination:
    • Act as the central point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication, setting expectations, and driving accountability across the team.
    • Report on project progress to management and stakeholders by producing daily, weekly and monthly status reports

  • Process optimisation:
    • Continuously improve project management processes to increase efficiency, mitigate risks, and enhance the overall quality of deliverables.
    • Find scalable solutions to automate processes within the marketing team.
  • Quality assurance:
    • Maintain a rigorous attention to detail, ensuring all projects meet the highest standards before delivery.
  • Problem-solving:
    • Proactively identify potential challenges and roadblocks, and develop innovative solutions to keep projects on track.
    • Coordinate solutions-driven collaboration between team members to ensure that projects are delivered timeously.
  • Team collaboration:
    • Work closely with creative, development and content teams to ensure seamless collaboration and smooth delivery of all projects and initiatives.
  • Product knowledge:
    • Understand all product and operational details across brands
    • Stay up to date with industry trends and developments, reporting to leadership with opportunities for optimisation or growth.
  • Reporting and analysis:
    • Report on project progress to management and stakeholders by producing daily, weekly and monthly status reports.
Requirements
  • At least five+ years of experience managing complex, high-volume projects in a fast-paced environment, ideally within marketing, advertising, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of successful large-scale project deliveries
  • Experience in reviewing and optimising project management processes to improve team efficiency, resource allocation, and the quality of deliverables.
  • Proven track record of implementing scalable solutions or automating processes to enhance overall project workflow.
  • Advantageous: 
    • Project management qualification. 
    • Bachelor's degree / marketing degree.
    • Experience managing, mentoring, or coaching junior team members, with a focus on career development, performance improvement, and employee satisfaction.
    • Has worked with a dev team or successfully led development projects.
