Call Centre / Debt Collection Agent

Key responsibilities

• Contact debtors via telephone, email, and other communication channels to negotiate outstanding payments.
• Assess customer financial situations and develop repayment solutions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions and payment agreements.
• Follow up on outstanding debts while ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
• Handle customer queries and disputes professionally to achieve positive resolutions.
• Meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly collection targets.
• Escalate unresolved cases to the relevant departments for further action.

Requirements and qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent; additional qualifications in finance, credit management, or business administration will be advantageous.
• Previous experience in debt collection, customer service, or a call center environment is preferred.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to handle difficult conversations.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and debt collection software.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
• Knowledge of the National Credit Act (NCA) and debt collection regulations is advantageous.
• Target-driven with excellent problem-solving abilities.
