A carrier-class Ethernet (CE 3.0) infrastructure company, that provides highly managed fibre optic broadband connectivity in South Africa have a vacancy for a specialist in data architecture and database administration who will play a critical role in driving the data architecture and strategy across the organisation. This individual will be responsible for creating and maintaining data models, data governance frameworks, and strategies that align with the business's long-term goals.

Responsibilities:

• Define and manage the overall enterprise data architecture goals and technical strategies
• Develop and enforce data standards, best practices, and frameworks for data management, storage, integration, and security.
• Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance data platforms, databases, and systems.
• Lead the establishment of data governance frameworks, including data ownership, stewardship, and quality initiatives.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including IT, systems and business intelligence to ensure data systems meet business needs

Qualifications and experience:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information technology, data science or a related field
• Six+ years of experience in data architecture, data management, or related fields, with at least three years in an enterprise-level role.
• Proven experience within large-scale data architectures, including relational, non-relational and graph databases (GraphDB is a must!)
• Strong knowledge of data modelling, data governance, data quality, and metadata management
• Good knowledge of cloud-based platforms
• Experience with data integration tools and big data technologies
• Expertise in database management systems (e.g., SQL, MySQL, GraphDB, MongoDB, PostGIS).
