Azure Data Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Expanding and optimising our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimising data flow and collection for cross-functional teams.
• Building data pipelines and data wrangling while optimising data systems and building them from the ground up.
• Being self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products.
• Optimising or even re-designing our company’s data architecture to support the next generation of products and data insights and solutions.
• Operating in a big data ecosystem.

Qualifications and experience:

• Three+ years of experience in developing data solutions, including analysis, design, coding, testing, deploying, and supporting applications.
• A degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or a related field of study, or relevant experience.
• Proficiency in data application/software architecture (definition, business process modelling, etc.).
• Experience with SQL and Python, and familiarity with relational databases and query authoring.
• Experience building and optimising 'big data' pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
• Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.

The reference number for this position is NG59788. It is a permanent role based in Johannesburg offering a cost to company of R640,000 to R840,000 per annum, negotiable based on experience and ability.
