Data Architect

A South African bank, whose objective is to protect the value of the currency for balanced and sustainable economic growth in the country, is looking to fill a vacancy for a technical (data) architect. The role requires designing and building a highly scalable SaaS solution that is customer-facing and adheres to SOC and ISO 27001 compliance standards.

Responsibilities:

• Understand, architect, and lead the development of the solution, including making tech stack decisions
• Collaborate with business owners and customers for needs analysis
• Oversee all aspects of the SDLC, CI/CD, automated testing, and compliance standards
• Recruit and lead a team of skilled developers
• Write testable code, including unit tests and integration tests, and work with a dedicated testing team

Qualifications and experience:

• Degree or diploma in engineering or software engineering with strong experience in data architecture
• At least seven years of experience designing and developing a data platform
• Proven track record in delivering quality software in an agile environment
• Experience building or working on a data platform in a SaaS environment
• Proficiency in Python, C#/.NET, particularly for data pipelines and API development
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with familiarity in modern frameworks like Angular (used in this role), React, or Vue
• Telecoms industry experience (advantageous)
• Experience with dashboard and report development (Power BI, Superset, SSRS) (advantageous)
• Experience running workloads on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) (advantageous)

Reference number for this position is NG59838. This is a hybrid role based in Johannesburg, offering a cost-to-company salary of up to R1 million to R1.2 million per annum, negotiable based on experience and ability.
