A boutique product development consulting company, focused on strategy and execution, is seeking a senior Power BI reports support engineer. The role involves investigating the root causes of Power BI report issues, documenting solutions, and either resolving problems directly or working with developers to address them. This position suits candidates who enjoy querying and analysing report data, and identifying data quality or coding issues.

Key responsibilities

• Understand the root causes of business issues and contribute to code optimisation, clean-up, and new report development.
• Demonstrate Power BI features to enhance report usability.
• Serve as the first point of contact for business users experiencing data production issues.
• Investigate and document issues reported via the support ticketing system.
• Troubleshoot issues, verify business logic, and validate source data.
• Maintain daily documentation of open tickets and attend daily stand-up meetings.
• Collaborate with business users and developers to resolve problems.
• Ensure all issues are well-documented, communicated to stakeholders, and fully resolved.
• Perform debugging and root-cause analysis using expert problem-solving skills.
• Write test queries and DAX code.

Qualifications and experience

• Degree in business commerce, information studies, or information technology.
• Over five years of hands-on support, development, or QA experience in a Power BI environment.
• At least three years’ experience in data preparation, data modelling, data gateway, and data warehousing projects.
• Strong knowledge of DAX, SQL queries, stored procedures, and SSIS packages.
• Solid understanding of data warehouse and database concepts.
• Proven experience in analysing and troubleshooting data issues, bug fixes, and handling support cases/tickets.
