      Freelance Account Director

      A leading creative agency is looking for a freelance account director to drive client relationships, business growth, and the delivery of exceptional creative services. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong financial management skills, excellent leadership abilities, and a passion for client service.

      Key responsibilities

      Client service and business management

      • Oversee revenue and track the performance of assigned client accounts.
      • Lead and manage the team to deliver outstanding client service and account strategy.
      • Strengthen the agency-client relationship, progressing from advertising supplier to brand leader.
      • Meet or exceed business targets while ensuring profitability.
      • Develop and maintain strategic case studies for all campaigns, updated quarterly.
      • Identify opportunities for organic growth and cross-selling within accounts.
      • Ensure adherence to company policies, including timely performance reviews, accurate revenue forecasting, and budget optimisation.
      • Propose and implement cost-effective and innovative campaign methods.
      • Keep the agency at the forefront of industry trends and share insights with the team.
      • Manage daily client account activities and ensure the delivery of high-quality creative solutions.

      Client relationship development

      • Understand the client's operational needs and provide strategic input on account direction.
      • Maintain clear communication of strategic changes within the team and with creative teams.
      • Identify and capitalise on opportunities for additional business within client accounts.
      • Regularly assess account profitability and business potential.
      • Maintain clear documentation of costs, project details, and creative instructions.
      • Continuously improve client satisfaction through feedback, campaign evaluations, and adjustments.
      • Ensure clients are aware of the full range of agency services, including digital, planning, and production.
      • Manage client satisfaction processes to achieve optimal results.
      • Ensure compliance with client contracts, legal regulations, and industry standards.

      Collaboration and teamwork

      • Build strong relationships across all agency divisions to enhance collaboration.
      • Work closely with creative teams to develop innovative solutions for client needs.
      • Improve efficiencies and delivery on all accounts by working across departments.

      Team leadership

      • Coach, train, and develop team members through on-the-job processes.
      • Establish best practices within the agency.
      • Manage team performance to meet or exceed income targets.
      • Allocate team resources effectively to maximise skill sets and client coverage.
      • Create development plans aligned with business and individual goals.
      • Ensure adherence to company policies and expectations.

      Financial management

      • Balance client satisfaction and agency profitability.
      • Maintain high standards of invoicing and financial administration to ensure timely payments.
      • Provide monthly income forecasts and financial reports.
      • Drive cost control and income growth within the team.
      • Monitor billing procedures and alert the account management director to potential changes.

      Minimum requirements

      • Three to five years' experience as an account director in a creative or advertising agency.
      • Proven client account management experience.
      • Strong project management skills.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
